Many of our guests have asked "Why the Turtle?", there are many reasons behind the Tencha Turtle...other than we just think it looks cool!

It has been said that the turtle is the longest surviving animal and could survive the most extreme conditions. The earliest known turtles date from 250 million years ago! Could this longevity be due to its shell?

Many turtles can live longer than 100 years!

The diet of a turtle depends on their jaw structure. They can be carnivorous (meat eating),herbivorous (plant eating), or omnivorous (eating both meat and plants). Our food will satisfy any turtle! We even have vegetarian options for the non-meat eaters!

Turtles are cold blooded. One way they regulate their body temperature is by basking in the sun...Mexico anyone?! :)

If turtles get too cold, they can't digest their food and may hibernate.
Tencha Salsas should heat them up! All salsa flavors are available mild, medium, and hot.

In reality the Tencha Turtle's origin and its development began early in our lives. Growing up, our sister Tania always collected turtle memorabilia, just like any child with their favorite animal. She even had a Red Eared Slider as a pet. Tania's love of turtles was so strong she built up enough courage to get her first tattoo in Acuna, Mexico of a tribal turtle on her foot. She sat in that chair for a few moments of pain, while all of us watched on, sipping on our Margaritas of course!
Now that is an "authentic" tattoo!

Turtles are symbols of many things. In Ancient Japan, for example, the turtle was a symbol for happiness and good fortune. Others view the turtle as a symbol for joy and prosperity..We like to view the [Tencha] Turtle as a reminder of our family's roots and our flavors we passionately introduce to you!
